Multi-brand security distributor Oprema hosted their sixth year of OPSEC, right outside the doors of their Cardiff HQ. The event always goes down as a major success, and this year was no exception!

From interactive product demonstrations to delicious refreshments in the sunshine, here were the top five highlights that stole the (trade) show…

  1. Dahua stand

Giants in the security space, Dahua, were proud sponsors of OPSEC 2023. Being the UK’s leading distributor of Dahua technology, it made perfect sense for their partnership to take centre stage at the event.

The Dahua stand made a fantastic impression on guests. One stand-out piece of tech they brought along was their new 180 degree splicing camera with an output of 8 MP, combining two internal cameras to create seamless, wide-angled footage. There were also great Dahua goodie bags on offer, where guests could take home anything from notebooks and bottles to tool kits and umbrellas.

  1. Market-leading exhibitors

OPSEC has always been an excellent opportunity for those in the industry to check out the latest and greatest in security technology. 2023 was no different, with 17 market-leading brands in attendance to show off their innovative products.

There were representatives from each of Oprema’s four disciplines: CCTV, access control, fire and intruder. Amongst them were Hanwha Vision, Bosch, Ajax, Suprema, Lanview, Paxton, Apollo and Advanced. Videx also attended with their van showcasing various items of their latest and greatest door entry products.

A winner with the crowd was Ernitec’s brand new camera with OCR software from Vaxtor. On visiting the Ernitec stand, guests were surprised with footage of the moment they first entered the marquee. This was captured thanks to Vaxtor technology recognising the unique number printed on loyalty cards given to each attendee on arrival.

  1. Charity Spinathon for Dementia UK

In the midst of the event, the Oprema team seized the opportunity to raise money and awareness of their 2023 Charity of the Year, Dementia UK. A spin bike could be seen in the marquee, with 15 staff members taking turns throughout the entire event to work up a sweat for a good cause. In total, they collaborated to cycle a whopping 112 miles – the distance between Cardiff and Birmingham.

The spinathon, coupled with a raffle, raised a total of £500 for this wonderful charity.

  1. Bar & food

A delicious hog roast was on offer for guests to enjoy – not to mention a bar which of course went down a treat!

Head of Technical at Oprema, Lee Alm, said: “The bar had a great atmosphere, laughter, and great conversations with customers old and new. Some quality banter along with the latest technology on display…what more could you ask for?”

This wouldn’t be the last time guests had the opportunity to dig into some tasty food, with the much-anticipated OPSEC afterparty taking place later in the evening in central Cardiff.

  1. Entertainment

Oprema have been known to go the extra mile when it comes to special occasions, and just like in previous years, there was an amazing atmosphere inside the giant white marquee.

There was an incredible magician in attendance who wowed the guests with tricks as they circulated the marquee. When the day came to a close, Oprema moved the festivities to Flight Club, where everyone enjoyed dinner and the chance to show off their best dart skills!

Oprema MD, Gareth Williams, summarises OPSEC 2023: “It’s the best one yet for me, [coming at] an important time in Oprema’s journey.” This is following the distributor’s big brand refresh earlier in the spring, which received exceptional feedback.

Now all that’s left to do is start the countdown to OPSEC 2024…
