Meet Millie, joining Team Oprema as our new Junior Graphic Designer! We caught up with her about her first ever job, dream holiday destination, guilty pleasure, and more. Keep reading to find out all about her (plus a weird fact thrown in about snails…)

 

10 Random Facts About Millie Van Emden

 

1. What is your role at Oprema?

I am the Junior Graphic Designer and part of the Marketing team. Every day is different in my job, I could be doing anything from designing socials posts, to designing socks, to creating the branding for the recent OPSEC event!

2. Describe your first ever job.

In my first job I was 15, peeling potatoes in a pub for Sunday dinners for £4.50 an hour until I got promoted to carrots lol.

3. Do you have any pets?

I have a cat called Binky, he’s half Maine Coon and is a big fluffy boy. He is a menace, his favourite thing to do is bite my feet, but I love him anyway. Loves a fish stick. Last week I got a labradoodle puppy called Margo, who is the sweetest little girl, but I definitely have my hands full.

4. Dream holiday destination?

I really want to visit Australia, something I have dreamed about for a long time. I want the shrimps on a barbie, and to surf.

5. What skill would you most like to learn?

I want to learn Spanish, I’ve downloaded Duolingo but that’s as far as I have gotten.

6. What’s the coolest place you’ve ever travelled, and why?

Probably Singapore. It felt like a different world, visiting temples, Gardens by the Bay and the different cultures. I would definitely go back!

7. What is something that always makes you smile?

Seeing family, especially my nan, Mamgu. This is why I am her favourite grandchild 🤩

8. What’s your favourite random fact?

Snails have 4 noses 🐌

9. What’s your guilty pleasure? 

Love Island.

10. Finally – one random fact that no one would guess was true about you! 

I can spin my hand all the way around.
